I've arrived! It's my 3rd day in Galway and it feels like I've lived here for a month. So much has happened in the past few days that I think I'll break it down into fortunates and unfortunates.
Fortunately on the plane I sat next to a chipper young marine on his way to bootcamp.
Unfortunately he talked nonstop for an hour including in his repertoire his own rendition of the intro song to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Unfortunately I fainted at customs.
Fortunately I landed on my suitcase and they not only let me in the country but also kindly fetched me some water.
Fortunately I've met a ton of really friendly Irishmen.
Unfortunately I was kissed on the street by an incredibly drunk Englishman.
Unfortunatley everything is very pricey.
Fortunately I've put my euros to good use eating my first Irish chips and drinking my first Irish whiskey! Delicious by the way, unlike the Guiness which I couldn't finish if you paid me 50 euros (and believe me, I could use 50 euros).
Today I had orientation at my BEAUTIFUL campus (very Hogwarts-esq) and I'm looking forward to a camping trip at the Aran islands this weekend. Lord knows what my I'll have to report on my next post, but it will undoubtedly be as much wonderful fun as only the Irish know how to have.
